What is a Single Bet? One Outcome, One Result
A single bet, also called ordinary, is a type of wager that covers exactly one outcome at one event. You select one market with one set of odds, and place one stake.
Take Flora Tallinn to beat Levadia. That is the entire bet. If Flora wins, you get a reward. If they draw or lose, the bet is lost.
It is a fundamental bet in sports betting. Actually, every bettor starts with it.
How the payout works
Payout = Stake × Odds
Stake €10 on Flora to win with 1.85 odds
10 × 1.85 = €18.50
€18.50 is your total return, which includes the €10 (initial stake). Your pure profit is €8.50.
In this example, you see what are betting odds and what their role is. When they change, everything changes too. The same €10 at odds of 1.50 returns €15.00; hence, you earn €5.00. At 3.00, it gives a return of €30.00 with €20.00 of pure profit. The stake is the money you risk. The odds show potential profitability.
Single vs accumulator vs system
Single. Includes one event with one outcome. It wins or loses regardless of other outcomes.
Accumulator. This next-level bet type extends to multiple events concurrently. Every selection should win, while one failure leads to losing your whole stake.
System bet. Well, finally, what is a system bet? This is a set of combinations based on several wagers. The bet can still return some money even if one of several selections is wrong.
The single is the variation. New bettors are recommended to begin with it. You only have to be right about one outcome.
When a single is better than an accumulator
It is a good idea to select a single when you’re confident in one specific outcome and don’t want other match or game results to interfere with the final result. It also sets a limit. A wrong ordinary costs you only the wager amount. In contrast, what is an accumulator? One wrong selection there erases the entire stake. The potential payout is smaller due to odds, but the overall chance of winning is higher.
